Sundays

So on Sundays we have to go to the 11 o clock service because there has to be three people present at the Bible college at all times for insurance purposes. so we wait till about 11...thats when the kids return from first service, so by default we are always about 30 min late. Sunday mornings are a tad challenging, trying to keep Savi occupied, on campus, and clean until 11. This was this Sunday...he stayed semi clean.

food. Lately he has become a tad picky when it comes to what goes on his pasts. Three nights ago I made home made Alfredo sauce...Savi poked it..tasted it...then said no no. He then went to the fridge, so i opened it. He grabbed the ketchup and so i proceeded to get a new bowl of bow tie pastas and put ketchup on it?!?! i ate his food (which was good) and Savi ate his "red" sauce....very happily.

a quaint little cafe that someone told us about. it was great of course, i had a sweet potato and pork sandwich and Nate had a Mediterranean pizza. He also got a cappuccino, amazing, and for desert i had a peach shaped marzipan, even more amazing than the amazing cappuccino.

the box that our new oven came in is a hit. We turned it into a small house for Sauvignon and he always invites me over, he is quite hospitable for a 14 month old. He also disappeared at snack time and i found him in his house eating...so cute! Why is it always the free things that they love the most...?

I now hate the color mauve, not that i have ever loved it. I think that Satan himself created the color to torture people here on earth. Nate and I have been painting and it was all going fairly well until we got to our living room. It was supposed to be sun dried tomato red, but it was not. So we decided to go with espresso brown and the accent wall is going to be sliced almond, an off white. The kitchen is a yellowy gold, always happy colors for the kitchen, and our bedroom is a light tan. I will put some better pictures up when its all done, but for now this is all you get.

Last night we went on a family date (that means that Savi came too). We walked about three blocks to this place called Quatro D. It's a cafe and heladeria (gelato). It was fantastic, really cute inside. Nate got the 4d, an espresso with vanilla gelato, and I got a coconut gelato to share with Savi. We also felt like a little something to eat so we got a grilled chicken wrap with spinach, bacon, candied pecans, and some unidentifiable vegetable ( i think that it was steamed broccoli stems). Needless to say, it was really good. We also get a caprese salad which was very tasty. I think that our family will be frequenting Quatro D... just try and say it... its so dramatic in Spanish, rather than just 4D.

Orphanato

the orphanage is beautiful. We were able to get quite a bit of work done, but unfortunately i had to leave a day early with Savi because he got sick. He was so happy when we got "home" though. He is really starting to feel comfortable here! Pray for our team because they are all going up again on Monday for a week and Savi and I will be staying back.

How amazing is my back yard? Every day when I look out my kitchen window I thank the Lord for how amazing He is. We are so blessed down here with this amazing apartment and an incredibly luscious back yard/jungle! God is so good and I am learning soooooo much in my classes right now. Don't we serve an amazing God? This week we are going down to the orphanage that the church has (about and hour away...in the sticks) and we are going to be putting the finishing touches on it AND studying the book of Joshua while we are the for 2 weeks.

o how glorious is food! I LOVE food...and I not afraid to eat my weight in a delicious hamburguesa sanguchada (a glorified hamburger). One hamburger patty, one chorizo patty, a fried egg, cheese, french fries, lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise, ketchup, olive sauce, aji sauce (a peruvian pepper sauce..spicy!), and about 5 other sauces that I was not able to identify. This is what my dinner consisted of along with an ice cold Pepsi Cola. Like i said......GLORY!

Savi needs a friend...all day long he plays, for the most part contently, and I play too, but I feel inadequate. He needs a little friend that he can grow alongside. That is one thing that is hard about being here, there are no ninos for him to play with. I get sad sometimes when I see him running around in patterns that I know only a one year old would understand. I think to myself, "I wonder if he is lonely?" But the Lord knows and he will bring a little playmate for him in His perfect timing. Maybe we will meet a cute little Peruvian mamasita and he can play with her?! I am beginning to see the little difficulties that come along with moving here and at the same time I am so blessed to be a part of this little community. I am just continually praying that the Lord makes our time here a sweet one, no matter how long or short.

On a funnier note...Savi learned about iPods and headphones these past couple days and now he is hooked!

I just have to say it...the butter here is amazing and I think that the world should know. It is glorious...o so glorious! I also just wanted everyone to see how cute my sons high tops are...they are well loved and at the end of the day they just make me smile sitting there on the counter. I love being a mom!

O how I love our son. Lately he has been quite a handful with the move to Peru and with four molars moving into his mouth, yet my love for him continues to grow each and every day. When I found out that I was pregnant I never imagined how much the Lord would teach me through this flaming bundle of energy. Each day as I see him grow and learn and just become a little person, my love for him deepens (especially now that i get kisses and hugs!). I can't even begin to imagine how God sacrificed His only son for me, a sinner. it just blows my mind. I guess what I am trying to say is that the Lord has really been showing me how much He loves me lately. Jesus loves us all!

Miraflores

We journeyed out of "gringolandia" on Friday and went to Miraflores, an area of Lima. We were told that it was about a 40 minute walk but it ended up taking us about an hour and a half because we decided to walk along the beach which was quite nice. Our new friend Gino took us. Gino is a really nice guy, he handcrafts custom items out of wood and he is waiting on the Lord to show him where to step into ministry. Miraflores is a mix between New York and any other South American Metropolis. It was beautiful...we had some chifles, fried plantain chips, along the way and we found a really neat coffee shop. As we were driving back to the house in our taxi we notices that there is a flea market every so often. We will definitely be hitting that up. Flea markets remind me of Noelle and Jo in Jersey. Slowly we are getting to explore the beautiful area around us.

Booger Fruit

The actual name being Granadilla, the booger fruit is indigenous to Peru. Crunchy little seeds encased in a strange sack of green, well greenness. It was tasty though.
